Hello team [brand],
I’m Hunter, a skier, product designer, and amateur colorist from Aspen, Colorado. I’m reaching out in hopes of starting a conversation around _____.
So, why are we reaching out to you? While this project is only the latest in our series of adventures, what’s new about this is that we will travel with the intention of making art. We now have more experience behind the lens and more training in the mountains. We know our creative output is something to be proud of, and we think your brand could benefit. Coming out of the trip, we will have gigabytes of digital photography, film photography, and cinema-grade video. Buried in this story could be [your brand, your food, your outerwear, personalize for the brand.]. We think you are a like-minded brand. This is why we welcome you to help tell this story as a way to support your marketing efforts. We don’t need support, but any equipment helps us financially. More importantly, your support helps our story get reach we may not have through our personal channels.
We are a group of six skiers (three skiers and three snowboarders) looking for equipment and outerwear partners to help support a short film and photo print project we’ve been working on for the greater part of a year.
The project, tentatively titled Kvikk Lunsj, began last spring when we first climbed in the Lyngen Alps, Norway. The Lyngen peninsula is located at the Northernmost tip of the Scandinavian landmass, 69º N (Arctic Circle). We first sought out these lines because of their stunning exposure, grades, and ascents, all while within walking distance to the Arctic Ocean. On our first trip, we didn’t have any output in mind. Rather, it was a bucket list item funded by our scrap savings and local connections. We set out to ski seven major couloirs in the zone, and in the end we completed five.
During the trip, we carried a small video camera, several film cameras, and one mirrorless body. Since then, but we’ve been compiling the media into a story since. From the trip we produced film prints, digital prints, and 3D art based on the lines skied. We currently have over three hours of cinema-quality video. While the content is visually striking, we haven’t felt the story has been settled. So, we are returning.
We are flying to Tromso, Norway for the last two weeks of April this year. Our goal is to create a short film that highlights the story of how sport has created this friendship and keeps it alive as we live our own independent lives. All of this under the guise of Norwegian beauty and the freedom of skiing. Along with the film, we hope to produce photo prints or a short-form magazine from the trip.
As someone who has built their life around passion projects like this, Kvikk Lunsj is been all-consuming. Without a doubt, we are coming out of the other side with something that is life-defining for us. I sincerely hope this pitch has found you curious. If so, thank you for your interest, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Cheers, Hunter
